Project title: Nencki-EMBL Center of Excellence for Neural Plasticity and Brain Disorders: BRAINCITY

Project is carried out within the MAB/IRA programme of the Foundation for Polish Science

 

Project description:

BRAINCITY is a cutting-edge research center formed through a strategic partnership between the Nencki Institute and EMBL, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science. It focuses on neural plasticity and brain disorders, offering a multidisciplinary and translational research approach.

 

BRAINCITY’s key features:

  • Combines molecular biology (EMBL) and neurobiology (Nencki) expertise,
  • Aims to tackle major neurological and psychiatric disorders through the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic tools,
  • Emphasizes the role of brain-environment interaction in neuroplasticity.

Main research goals:

  • Targeted therapies for post-traumatic brain complications,
  • Behavioral testing platform for potential drugs with CNS activity,
  • Treatment methods for motivation disorders,
  • EEG-based tools for neuropsychiatric therapy support,

BRAINCITY serves as a unique hub for developing impactful, science-driven solutions to some of the most pressing brain health challenges.

Scope of tasks:

  • Coordinating development of scientific projects for the purpose of their clinical trials,
  • Coordinating enrollment and management of participants in scientific projects and clinical trials,
  • Training researchers in matters related with clinical development,
  • Ongoing collaboration with research teams in BRAINCITY and supporting scientists in cooperation with the business environment,
  • Preparing documentation related to scientific projects and clinical trials (incl. documents to bioethical committees),
  • Preparing, analyzing, and negotiating offers and agreements,
  • Finding, choosing and coordination of subcontractors,
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with the Institute's clinical partners,
  • Managing social media profiles and preparing promotional materials,
  • Maintaining document records in accordance with the procedures and instructions,
  • Cooperation with institutions supporting science in Poland and abroad.

Oczekujemy

Requirements:

  • PhD degree, or equivalent, in either one: neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, Biology, chemistry, biotechnology, medicine, pharmacy, health sciences etc. (optionally, for candidates who, at the time of application, did not complete their PhD studies, please provide the expected date of obtaining PhD degree),
  • Proficiency in English,
  • Proficiency in clinical trials OR medical experiments legal requirements,
  • Experience in collaboration with clinical partners in scientific projects, preparing contracts with clinical sites,
  • Experience in project coordination/management in drug development OR medical devices development,
  • Independence, responsibility, good work organization and the ability to prioritize tasks, goal orientation, and accuracy in task execution,
  • Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills,
  • Analytical thinking skills and orientation toward internal organizational needs,
  • Communication skills and the ability to draft written content,
  • Strong interest in neuroscience research and/or analyses of biological data.
