Project description:
We seek a motivated researcher to join a joint Beroun–Knapska effort on non-invasive stimulation of neuronal plasticity in the central amygdala to improve impaired motivation. Building on Beroun lab work on learning-induced synaptic plasticity in addiction (Bijoch et al. Cell Rep. 2023; Bijoch et al. Transl. Psych. 2023; Stefaniuk et al. Biol. Psych. 2017) and Knapska lab expertise in social/emotional circuitry, Eco-HAB–based high-throughput behavior, and imaging (Puścian et al., eLife 2016; Knapska et al., PNAS 2006; Andraka et al., Curr. Biol. 2021; Puścian et al., Br. J. Pharmacol. 2021; Mol. Psychiatry 2022; Winiarski et al., Sci. Advances 2025; Kazmierowska et al., Neuroimage 2022; Kolada et al., J. Neurosci. 2023), the project targets motivated behaviors in mouse models of depression, and drug and alcohol addiction, with human-relevant translation. Methods may include social/motivational assays, circuit activity mapping, fMRI, and plasticity-oriented stimulation with therapeutic potential
