Saliphenesin is made of Chlorphenesin BP, an organic compound that functions as a preservative and cosmetic biocide with antimicrobial activity. It is effective at concentrations of 0.1 to 0.3% against bacteria and some species of fungi and yeast. It is used in cosmetic and personal care products to protect product integrity and can be used in the formulation of aftershave lotions, bath products, cleansing products, deodorants, hair conditioners, makeup, skin care products, personal cleanliness products, and shampoos.
