Laboratory of Laboratory of Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology https://shorturl.at/mLd8y at the International Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Prof. Jacek Jaworski, seeks motivated Research Specialist to join a project that aims to characterize in detail the influence of mTOR on Brg1 cellular functions in activated neurons and the role of mTOR-dependent Brg1 phosphorylation in the regulation of neuronal activity in physiology and pathology. You will join the project entitled: “The role of mTOR-Brg1 interaction in normal and aberrant neuronal activity” which is carried out as the MAESTRO (UMO-2020/38/A/NZ3/00447) grant of the Polish National Science Centre.

 

Laboratory interest:  Research of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology focuses on molecular aspects of development and stability of neuron morphology. We are especially interested
in role of mTOR and mTOR related brain diseases such as Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, Epilepsy and autism. More info can be found at IIMCB Annual Reports (https://www.iimcb.gov.pl/en/about-us/annual-reports-2).

Candidates will be selected in an open competition, according to the procedure complying with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as a part of HR Excellence in Research strategy https://bit.ly/2OBshQU.

As a Research Specialist you will be responsible for the preparation of neural stem cells and primary neuron culture, preparation of lentiviral vectors and plasmids, and optimizing ATAC-seq protocol for these types of cells.

Requirements for the candidate:

  1. MSc degree in biology, biotechnology or related area of science,
  2. High motivation, analytical skills and independent thinking,
  3. Ability to work in a team, good organization of work,
  4. Have very good written and oral communication skills in English and Polish,
  5. Hands-on experience in culturing cell lines (particularly iPSC and their derivatives) and primary patient cells and molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g., cloning, viral vectors production).

  1. Full employment contract – 6 months with possibility to extension.
  2. Gross monthly salary around 6325 PLN (* Additional bonuses such as the 13th salary after working for the Institute for six months in a given calendar year, or Christmas bonus may supplement this salary)

Selection criteria:

  1. Education and other formal credentials.
  2. Technical competence, experience and fit of the expertise to the position.
  3. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  4. Soft skills – motivation letter, communication and cooperation skills, ability for effective teamwork, likelihood to fit an add value to the group, effective work organization, compatibility of plans for individual development with the goals of the group.
