Master’s student in Laboratory of Cellular Proteostasis

 

 

The Laboratory of Cellular Proteostasis at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Dr. Lidia Wróbel, is seeking Master’s student.

 

You will join the project entitled “Astrocytic Immunoproteasome Function in Parkinson’s disease”, which is carried out as the Sonatina 2026/60/C/NZ3/00284 grant of the Polish National Science Centre. The project is led by Dr. Patrycja Mulica.

The project aims to elucidate the function and regulation of the astrocytic immunoproteasome in Parkinson’s disease.

 

As a Master’s student you will be involved in the generation of the cell lines, analysis of the inflammatory status of the cells, and analysis of the immunoproteasome activity.

 

Candidate profile:

1. 1st degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or related field obtained
2. the candidate must be formally enlisted in MSc studies in Poland
3. basic experience in laboratory work, in particular with cell culture and molecular biology techniques
4. good knowledge of the principles of cell and molecular biology
5. good knowledge of English
6. interest in cell biology research, motivation and passion for experimental work
7. willingness to learn and take new challenges, analytical thinking, availability
8. good interpersonal skills
9. prior experience in research using brain cell types would be an advantage but is not essential

 

Selection criteria

1. Education, technical competencies.

2. Proficiency in spoken and written English. 
3. Soft skills - motivation letter, communication skills, ability for effective teamwork, likelihood to fit to the group, compatibility of plans for individual development with the goals of the group.

 

Candidates will be selected in an open competition, according to the procedure complying with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as a part of HR Excellence in Research strategy.

We offer

1. Fellowship: PLN 1,500 per month for a maximum period of 18 months, starting in December 2026. The candidate may start as early as October 2026; however, the fellowship will only be paid from December 2026, when project funding becomes available.
2. Participation in lab meetings and institutional seminars, institutional retreats, scientific training, support from peers, and academic mentoring.
3. Opportunity to learn a number of molecular, cell, and developmental biology techniques.
4. Exposure to cutting-edge techniques available at the IIMCB.
