Junior Specialist
in structural bioinformatics of RNA

As a Junior Specialist, you will be involved in computational analyses of RNA structure, particularly in the modeling and design of RNA molecules and RNA interactions with other molecules towards applications in biomedicine and biotechnology.
This position is ideal for you if you have solid experience in structural bioinformatics, particularly in molecular docking, analysis of macromolecule–small molecule interactions, molecular design, and/or structural analysis and modeling of nucleic acids, especially RNA. We are also interested in applications from candidates with experience in other areas related to experimental studies of RNA structure, who can contribute new techniques to be used in our interdisciplinary work. At least basic programming skills in Python are necessary. This position offers a full-time contract of employment with benefits. After two years of employment, following positive evaluation, there will be an opportunity to be promoted from Junior Specialist to Specialist. For candidates interested in pursuing a PhD degree, we offer a possibility of completing a PhD in an extramural form.
This position is offered within a project entitled “RNA and Cell Biology Platform for Research and Innovation in Medicine (RACE-PRIME)” (grant agreement no. FENG.02.01-IP.05-T003/23) implemented within the framework of the International Research Agendas funded by the European Funds for Smart Economy program. The premise of RACE-PRIME is the translational use of the results of basic research, e.g., to develop the basis of new therapies, diagnostic methods, discover new therapeutic objectives or to identify molecules with desirable properties so that they can be developed into medications.
We offer:
• Full-time contract (“umowa o pracę”) for 48 months, including an initial trial period of 6 months.
• Gross monthly remuneration starting at 6043.53 PLN, net approx. 4800 PLN (the final monthly gross salary will be determined individually during the employment process, taking into account the length of service). Additional bonuses such as the 13th salary after working for the Institute for six months in a given calendar year, or Christmas bonus may supplement this salary. After potential promotion to the Specialist position, the gross salary may be increased up to 6719.60 PLN, average net approx. 5300 PLN.

We require:
• M.Sc. or equivalent degree in any area relevant to the position offered (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, computer science)
• Experience related to at least two of the following areas: molecular docking and virtual screening, molecular modeling of RNA 3D structure and dynamics, software development and development of structural bioinformatics methods
• Proactive approach to achieving objectives, good interpersonal skills, collaborative and adaptive attitude
• Very good organizational skills, especially project and time management skills
• Very good command of English (written and oral communication) and presentation skills
• Experience working in a company and/or with applied research would be advantageous
• Co-authorship of scientific publications would be advantageous
