Responsibilities and expectations
● Scientific Oversight & Project Advisory: Providing subject matter expertise and advisory to Project Owners throughout the entire project lifecycle; offering technical guidance on wet lab processes, supporting the interpretation of results, and acting as a scientific consultant during client-facing discussions.
● Delivery & Execution: Managing the master schedule of all experiments happening in the lab. Synchronizing Wet Lab workflows with Data Analysis teams to ensure seamless data handovers. Continuously improving and optimizing processes to establish a professional, highly functioning laboratory environment. Exhibiting strong decisiveness and a results-oriented mindset to drive high-velocity execution, ensuring the team moves quickly and maintains momentum through critical project milestones.
● People Leadership & Mentoring: Providing on-site leadership and scientific mentoring. Acting as the bridge between the executive team, clients and laboratory execution. Conducting regular development-focused 1-on-1s, with a strong commitment to nurturing talent and helping team members grow as professionals.
● Performance Metrics (KPIs): Tracking cycle times, and cost-per-experiment. Utilizing data-driven analytics to identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks, driving continuous improvement of laboratory workflows and leveraging agentic AI automation support when possible
● Quality, Compliance & Standards: Defining rigid "go/no-go" thresholds and decision points. Establishing change control procedures for protocols and kits. Ensuring audit readiness (GLP/ISO/IVDR standards).
Requirements
Must haves:
● Scientific Expertise: Strong scientific background (PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Cancer Biology, Genomics, Genetics or a related field) providing the technical depth necessary to advise on intoDNA projects and act as a credible consultant in discussions with high-level clients.
● Experience: 5+ years in a delivery/operations leadership role within a regulated lab environment (pharma, CRO, diagnostics, or precision medicine), including extensive experience interfacing with external stakeholders and/or clinical partners.
● Leadership: Experience in managing cross-functional teams and navigating high-growth, high-pressure environments.
● Operational Expertise: Experience with project delivery in a client-facing context (SOW management, milestone tracking, cost control). Proven track record in implementing OpEx methodologies in a scientific environment.
● Technical: Proficiency in Project Management software (e.g. Asana, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet)and LIS/LIMS platforms.
● Language: Proficiency in English
● On-site Presence: This is a 100% on-site role based at our laboratory in Kraków. Continuous, hands-on presence is essential to provide real-time leadership, direct mentorship to the team, and immediate oversight of laboratory operations.
Strong differentiators:
● Background in flow cytometry, spatial biology, DNA Damage Response biology, pathology, immunoassays, or cell-based assay delivery
● Experience scaling a team from 5–15 people while maintaining quality
● Familiarity with GCP/GLP-adjacent quality standards (not necessarily GMP or ISO-13485/ IVDR)
● Coaching/mentoring orientation — able to develop team leads from within
● Develops AI-native workflows and applies agentic AI tools in normal everyday work to improve efficiency & scale productivity of teams
