The Biophysics and Bioanalytic Facility of the International Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology in Warsaw is looking for a EXPERT to perform biophysical analysis.
The Biophysics and Bioanalytic Facility is one of the Core Facilities of the International Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology. The Laboratories play an integral role in the Institute's research infrastructure, providing access to state-of-the-art equipment facilities and services to support the daily work of scientists from both the Institute and external entities. The person hired will join a team formed by two experienced scientists (https://core-facility.iimcb.gov.pl/bbf/) and will be deployed to conduct analyses using the many instruments this Facility has at its disposal.
The hired person will be responsible for:
- Mastering molecular biophysics techniques from the Facility’s portfolio
- Independent performance of measurements, data processing and interpretation
- Preparing initial versions of reports on measurements performed (in Polish and English)
- Proper archiving of data and reports
- Accounting for paid services performed (in cooperation with the administration)
- Adherence to the rules of administration of the Facility’s services
- Diagnostics of instruments and minor service interventions
- Training of new users
Requirements:
- Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred), preferred majors: biology or biophysics
- English language skills allowing to work freely in an international environment and report obtained results
- basic knowledge of at least two of the biophysical techniques offered in the Biophysics and Bioanalytical Laboratory (Analytical ultracentrifugation, microcalorimetry, surface plasmon resonance, multiangle light scattering, dynamic light scattering, circular dichroism)
- desired: documented practical experience in the application of the above biophysical techniques
- pragmatic and creative approach to solving scientific, methodical and technical problems
- willingness to intensively expand one's knowledge
- Basic technical skills (ability to use simple tools to disassemble and repair equipment)
- enthusiasm
- ability to plan tasks and multitask
- ability to work under pressure
- communicativeness
- willingness for short-term training/internship trips welcomed
