Research Assistant position in the Laboratory of RNA Biology – ERA Chairs Group (role in Research Task: Technical Support LRB)

 

The Laboratory of RNA Biology ERA Chairs Group https://bit.ly/3F3BPsG at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) headed by Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski, is inviting applications for a Research Assistant.

You will join the Team of the Research Task entitled “Horizon for Excellence in messenger RNA applications in immunoOncology” (WIB-1/2020-O11) financed by the Virtual Research Institute (WIB) from the Polish Science Fund. The primary objective of this Research Team is to develop highly effective therapeutic mRNAs. To learn from the existing mRNA vaccines (Krawczyk et al Nature 2025 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-025-08842-1) to construct better ones!

The Research Task will be carried out by a team of scientists from the IIMCB (coordinator), the University of Warsaw, the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Medical University of Warsaw.

As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for studying the stability of therapeutic mRNAs in vivo and their distribution and congenital immune response by single cell sequencing. Role in Research Task: Technical Support.

Requirements for the candidate:

  1. Holds MSc or PhD (preferably in biological sciences or a related discipline).
  2. Has experience in performing transcriptomic analyses including scRNA-seq.
  3. Has the ability to communicate (in English) complex information clearly, orally and in writing.
  4. Is commitment, reliability, accuracy and timeliness in the implementation of tasks.
  5. Has analytical and forward-thinking skills.
  6. Must comply with the non-compete policy in accordance with the WIB Program guidelines.

Selection criteria:

  1. Technical competence, experience and fit of the expertise to the position.
  2. Scientific achievements - publications, awards, grants, etc.
  3. Soft skills – command of English language, motivation letter, communication skills, teamwork, likelihood to fit to the group, compatibility of plans for individual development with the goals of the group.

 

Candidates will be selected in an open competition, according to the procedure complying with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as a part of HR Excellence in Research strategy.

We offer:

  1. Full employment contract initially for 8 months with a possible extension (if an extension is granted).
  2. Full-time salary in the range of 8 000 – 9 000 PLN gross per month.
  3. Position with 100% focus on research (no teaching obligations).
